Winter's almost gone, summer's coming on...

As we're finally (hopefully!) shaking off the last flakes of this Oregon winter, scheduling for summer has picked up a lot of steam. We're getting really excited to travel around and play some shows. So far we've got official appearances at two bluegrass festivals this summer. Coincidentally enough, both are featuring the beautiful and talented Laurie Lewis (www.laurielewis.com) The first festival, Siksiyou Bluegrass Festival at Lake Selmac is a local favorite of ours. Our second festival appearance, BeaverGrass (www.beavergrass.net) is shaping up to be quite a festival also featuring Peter Rowan, Tony Furtado and many others. It's the first year for the festival so we're really hoping it will take off. If you will be anywhere west of the Mississippi in August, think about heading to Corvallis, Oregon for this awesome festival. Keep checking back at www.eightdollarmountain.net for more shows as we update our schedule, and more tunes as we dial in our slew of original numbers and get them ready to share with the world!

Thanks a lot everyone for coming out last Friday night and showing your support! We had a great time at Caldera's Tap House and hope that you did too. Workin' on a Building (some songs)

Well we've got just about the most exciting thing that a band can have, our very own original songs! The creativity has been coming out in force and there are quite a slew of Eight Dollar Mountain songs just barely up over the horizon. We're just working out the details, chords, trying to remember the words and whatnot, but we're getting really excited to record these for all to hear. If I had to guess, I'd say it's not very far off at all until the world hears some Eight Dollar Mountain original tunes. Be sure not to miss it, check back here often as we'll have links to some of our tunes as soon as they become available. We've got some new photos on our myspace if you'd like to see how nice these boys can dress up in front of a camera.

And once again, make sure if you're in the Ashland area on April 23rd to mosey down to Caldera's Tap House for great beer and great music (a winning combination!) We'll be kicking it off around 9pm and we'd love it if you'd be there to join us.

Springin' into Action

Well, lots has happened on the Eight Dollar Mountain front in the last few weeks. Gigs have come and gone, songs have been sung and picked, and flowers have bloomed. Hopefully everyone is having a great spring, we sure are.

Getting excited for the gig and the Caldera Tap House. Don't forget! Make sure to join us for Ashland's greatest beer on tap with Ashland's greatest bluegrass!

Friday, April 23rd at 9pm, Caldera's Tap House in Ashland, OR. It will be a hoot and holler.

Things have really started happening around here this week. We've got a domain registered here . We played our first show last night opening for Blue Cranes and a great time was had by all! Check back soon for video evidence. Can't wait to play again soon.

Howdy Folks!
Welcome to Eight Dollar Mountain's Bluegrass blog. We hope to get updated here with photos, music, show dates, bios, intimate photos...well you get the idea. First let's introduce the band. Eight Dollar Mountain is a bluegrass band from Ashland, Oregon featuring red hot picking and singing. Our band features banjo, dobro, mandolin, guitar and bass, and real humans playing them. They are (in no particular order whatsoever):
Stu Green - banjo, vocals
Mark Lackey - dobro, vocals
Phil Johnson - mandolin, vocals
Darren Campbell - guitar, vocals
Peter Koelsch - bass, vocals
All the guys share an appreciation of bluegrass, newgrass and old-timey music like no other. Well there's a start, we hope to get many more things updated soon so make sure to check back.
